Amazon has unveiled the 64GB version of its Fire HD 10 tablet, which was launched in 2015.

For $290, buyers will be able to order the Fire HD 10 with a new silver aluminum all-metal enclosure and it will come in a 64GB internal capacity. It still has the very same 10.1 inch 1280 × 800 pixel resolution display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, Amazon's Fire OS and a 5MP front facing camera and HD front-facing lens for selfies and video chats. It supports microSD cards for memory expansion of up to 128GB.

Amazon also promises up to 8 hours of battery life, so users will be able to get through the better part of a day on a single charge. The company has quietly swapped out the plastic for a metal shell as a result of which the Fire HD 10 tablet looks more classy and premium now.

The giant online retailer’s Fire series might just be the most popular Android tablets these days. They are extremely low entry price and some pretty decent media tie-ins with Amazon's various platforms, the lack of Google Play access notwithstanding.

This newer version of the tablet presumably means that it is silver-colored aluminum, not aluminum-colored silver. Aluminum is the only color option for the new larger capacity. The black and white plastic versions are either not being made in the larger size or simply are not available at launch.

All the Fire HD 10 models, including the 16GB ($230) and 32GB ($260) versions, come with an expansion slot to add additional memory. The new aluminum and 64GB models are available now.
