Release Date Delayed to 2017

Sony had initially planned to release Horizon Zero Dawn later this year as announced at E3 2015. However, Guerrilla Games wanted to make sure that players get to enjoy the excellent visuals and quality gameplay that they are known for.

In a PlayStation blog post, Guerrilla's Games managing director, Hermen Hulst further explained that the extended time will allow them to fully deliver their grand vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.

While many fans may not be pleased with the new release date, Hulst emphasized that the delay is in the best interest of the Horizon Zero Dawn. Guerrilla Games announced their ambitious plans for the upcoming video game a week before E3 2016 kicks off in Los Angeles.

As announced at E3 2015, Horizon Zero Dawn will feature dinosaur robots in a post-apocalyptic world. The single-player role-playing game also boasts a full day-night cycle and will allow players to explore different landscapes and environments such as forests, mountains and "atmospheric ruins of a bygone civilization."
