The English squad will be aiming to kick off their Euro 2016 campaign with a win against the Russians. England and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana said that his side is hoping for a good start in order to build momentum. "All the team's focus will be on Russia now. It's the first game, you don't want to lose your first match and it's important we get off to a good start and build from there," he said.

Russian football player Igor Denisov has been ruled out of Euro 2016 due to an injury, which he suffered during a friendly against Serbia as part of the Euro 2016 preparations.

Denisov has been replaced by Arthur Yusupov. "After being on holiday for 14 days, of course I am going to be a bit out of shape. I don't really know what sort of physical condition I will be in," Yusupov said. "I was supposed to fly back to Moscow. I didn't even have my football boots with me and none of the clothes that I needed."
