Andrew Luck, quarterback of the National Football League's (NFL) Indianapolis Colts, does not fit the typical mold of a common football superstar.

He is often cited as different, often avoiding the spotlight and the media in order to focus on self-improvement.

Since 2010, the year that Luck came up short for the Heisman Trophy, he was billed as the next big quarterback coming out of college. He was poised to be the prized first round pick of any team.

However, he gave that up and returned to Stanford for one more year. A year after, he was picked first by the Indianapolis Colts over fellow superstar and Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III.

As rookies, both Luck and Griffin led their respective teams to the playoffs, with the latter winning the offensive rookie of the year award.

The following year, Luck looked poised to win it all, but fell short to draftmate Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

The people close to Luck understand his attitude towards self-improvement. Whether it be in terms of handling the media and endorsement deals, or running the offensive part of the Colts' training camp, Luck is on hungry for doing things better.

The pressure is mounted on Luck, as he faces former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, in this season's first game.

During a meeting with the media, Luck showed a considerable amount of maturity with his calm nature, stating that all he was worried about was the great defense of the Denver Broncos.

Now, he is going to face Manning, the player that he is compared with the most; in their hometown. The Broncos are coming off a Super Bowl loss, and will definitely come out primed and ready.

It is clear though that Luck seems to be focused on the now, erasing all thoughts of getting to the Super Bowl.

"We have had a good training camp and good pre-season games and are excited to get this first one under way," Luck said.
