Two teams that are rumored to be interested in acquiring Atlanta Hawks big man Al Horford this summer are the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks.

Horford had just finished the final season of his five-year, $60 million contract with the Hawks which will make him an unrestricted free agent this July. A lot of teams are allegedly interested in acquiring his services come free-agency and so several rumors have been swirling around even though the NBA Finals is still ongoing.

Analysts believe that Horford will command a maximum salary compensation this summer and Atlanta may not be too keen of giving him that as the team would have to sacrifice roster improvement to do so.

A lot of established veterans are also set to become free agents this year and the Hawks would want to get their hands on at least one or two of them while still trying to keep the 30-year-old Dominican.

Today's Fastbreak cited that Atlanta going after Philadelphia's Nerlens Noel in exchange for starting point guard Jeff Teague may be an indication that the team is preparing for Horford's impending exit.

The article then said that the Rockets could make "a strong push" for Horford come free-agency as reports went out that the four-time NBA All-Star is Houston's "top-line goal in free agency", perhaps because of Dwight Howard's imminent exit as well.

Horford is "a good fit" for new Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni's seven-seconds-or-less offense as he is a fast and agile big who can pass and has decent range in offense. Partnering him with James Harden in the pick-and-roll would certainly give headaches to opposing coaches.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are said to be eyeing Horford as well. Dallas has a history of chasing after big-name free agent centers, and while the former Florida standout is unlike any other center they have had, his "selflessness, passing, all around basketball smarts would mesh perfectly with Carlisle's pick and roll heavy system," according to SB Nation.

Horford is also not a superior rim protector like their former big Tyson Chandler, but he is great at rotating and providing help defense, something that the Mavs would need.
