Bungie Reveals new ‘Destiny’ Expansion 'Rise of Iron'

(Photo : Reuters) Bungie has shed some light on the content of the upcoming Destiny expansion Rise of Iron during a live-stream event this past week.
Developer Bungie revealed details of the upcoming Destiny expansion during a live-stream event on Thursday. Bungie's latest announcement has finally laid some rumors to rest and confirmed some speculations. The latest Destiny expansion is called 'Rise of Iron,' and will be released in September.

The live streaming event was hosted by Bungie community manager David Dague, alongside Destiny game director Christopher Barrett and executive producer Scott Taylor.
During the announcement, the developer confirmed Gjallarhorn's return. The rocket launcher will not only be revived but will be available in an Iron Black color scheme which can be acquired by purchasing the pre-order of the expansion. Moreover, the Iron Black Gjallarhorn can also be acquired by completing a new quest in the upcoming expansion.
During the event, Barrett teased gamers with a statement, "You get to forge a new Gjallarhorn from the armor of fallen heroes."
Alongside the announcement of the 'Rise of Iron' expansion, Bungie also released a new trailer and a list of major contents that will be added. Bungie said that the 'Rise of Iron' expansion will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, making it the first Destiny content to abandon last-gen consoles.
Bungie also teased the Destiny community with a new story campaign, co-op strike, raid, and competitive modes and maps. Additionally, Bungie confirmed that legacy strike modes would receive updates through the expansion which will connect it to the new storyline.
Another major feature to be added to the 'Rise of Iron' expansion is the new social space for players called The Plaguelands. This new location is set atop Felwinter Peak, just one of the several new locations on Earth.
The Destiny Rise of Iron expansion will be released on Sept.. 20 and costs $30. Bungie has promised that more information will be revealed about the expansion at the upcoming E3 convention.
