"Nashville" season 5 was recently confirmed by country network CMT, just a few days after its former home network ABC cancelled the show.

Other than its transfer from ABC to CMT, "Nashville" season 5 is confirmed to have a total of 22 episodes, according to The Tennessean.

This report may come as a surprise to some fans because "Nashville" only had a total of 21 episodes last season.

In the finale, Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) went missing after she rode a private jet to another destination.

This cliffhanger aired last month because ABC and "Nashville" exec had inkling that the series will still be renewed even if not under the same studio.

Here's a look at the synopsis for "Maybe You'll Appreciate Me Someday":

"On the series finale, Rayna resorts to drastic measures when she learns that Maddie has crossed paths with a duplicitous figure from her past. Juliette must choose how to publicly reckon with the truth of Jeff Fordham's death - a decision that directly affects Layla. Scarlett and Gunnar consider parting ways as band mates, and Will finally decides to do what he should have done long ago - step up as the leader of a cause or a community."

Meanwhile, it seems that not all of these storylines and cliffhangers from "Nashville" season 4 will be resolved when the series premieres in CMT in the coming months.

After all, there are some ongoing rumors that not all cast members will return to the series.

Connie Britton's Rayna will definitely return because she is the lead character on the show. However, Panettiere's fate is still unclear.

Other cast members who may be in danger of being axed include Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Lennon Stella, Sam Palladio.

"Nashville" season 5 will premiere on CMT sometime this fall.
