"Chicago Fire" actress and theater performer Molly Glynn passed away on Saturday in Chicago, a day after she met an accident involving a tree falling on her head while she was biking with actor-husband Joe Foust.

The 46-year old Glynn was biking on the Forest Preserve Trail in Erickson Woods with Foust when a tree fell and struck her head. Glynn had just come from an audition earlier in the day and had wanted to relax with her husband; however, erratic weather which caused the tree to fall took them by surprise.

After the accident, Foust immediately called 911 and the actress was rushed to Evanston Hospital where she died a day later from her injuries.

While Glynn struggled for her life in the hospital, Foust posted his feelings about the incident on Facebook, saying that he was going through "darkest day" of his life, and that the prognosis was grim.

David Rice, the executive director of First Folio Theatre and a close family friend, shared,"It was a freak accident and a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Colleagues and friends of Glynn remember her as a loving mother, wife and friend. Michael Halberstam, artistic director of Writers Theatre in Chicago, said that Glynn was a rare combination of talent, heart and beauty.

Currently, a Give Forward campaign was created to raise funds for the family. The campaign reached its goal of US$75,000 in less than 24 hours.

Aside from "Chicago Fire", the actress also starred in the television series "Early Edition".

Glynn was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut.

The actress is survived by her husband and two teenage sons.
