Samsung is filing patents on foldable, rollable, and bendable smartphones. Previously, the company was able to secure patents for flexible YOUM. These features were introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show event in 2013.
Over the years, Samsung has made several developments to the internal abilities of its devices. Most smartphone companies are focused on developing faster processors, camera quality and RAM. Shatterproof displays, on the other hand, have been manufactured long before but are quite disregarded by purchasers, Android Community reported.

Samsung Galaxy X's foldable display was one of the devices introduced during the Consumer Electronics event. The device named "Samsung Project Valley" is set to be launched in 2017 as the manufacturing process is still ongoing.
Samsung's bendable OLED screen has three variations. The first one folds in half, the other one rolls into an 8-inch display tablet, while the last one is a long bendable device.
The release of these devices has not been revealed yet. The rollable phone mimics the function of a scroll, which is in a tube form when rolled up. A flexible OLED screen is integrated instead of a glass display to support the function. On the other hand, the foldable device is patented in folded and unfolded condition. When folded in half, it functions as a tab but doubles in sizes when unfolded.
Samsung filed these patents in 2014 in South Korea and May 2015 in the United States, respectively. There are no touch-tech designs yet as the only visuals available are on paper. According to reports, Samsung's ratings has declined in recent years; many speculate, the company hopes that these flexible screens will be a game changer.
Meanwhile, reports say the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note may skip one of its usual sequels, The Verge reported. Instead of dubbing the upcoming device "6," they will release a "7" to rank it with the Samsung Galaxy S flagship phones. However, bendable phones are not going to be included in the next Samsung Galaxy S series.
