Lin Dan, 32, has defeated Chong Wei in the Olympics final round on two consecutive occasions.
"Both Lin Dan and Chen Long will be a serious threat in Rio but to me, Lin Dan is a bigger threat than Chen Long, especially at major competitions. They may have lost in Premier Super Series tournaments but they can rise to the occasion at major events." Chong said.
The two-time Asian Championships winner emphasized how valuable the Olympics is and how does it can motivate players to go beyond his best.
"Losing in a Super Series competition is not a major concern because there is always another Super Series around the corner but since the Olympics comes only once in four years, the physical and mental ability of an athlete takes over," Chong told the press after his training session on Tuesday.
Chong Wei is now the highest-ranked men's single badminton player in the world.
