Xiaomi MIUI 8 Global ROM will be unveiled at a Mi Max launch event in India on June 30 with Xiaomi Mi Max phablet. This event will follow the Mi Community's introduction in India.

MIUI 8 was first unveiled back in May, and this new version has new features. The company added a custom Android ROM to the device. Earlier this week, the company mentioned that a China Developer ROM (version 6.6.16) version will be released with a thousand optimizations.

Among these features are second space, long screenshots, new scanner, Mi Lanting font, built-in special effects for video editing, redesigned Task Manager, Smart menu for editing text, all-new Battery saver, brand new design, and support for cloning most apps.

The device also offers a newly improved Calculator app to convert live currencies and perform other conversions, shortcut menu, support for speech-to-text output in recorder, new templates for Notes to secure using passwords or fingerprints, redesigned Gallery app to add filters, Wallpaper Carousel, and recognition for fraudulent messages.

An Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs the device. There is also a text message filter to warn users of phishing attacks. A power saving mode is also featured to freeze the background apps and to save the battery life.

Included is Mi Max, with three versions based on RAM and internal storage. It has dual-SIM functionality, an all-metal body, and a fingerprint scanner. It comes with a 16-megapixel f/2.0 camera at the back, with LED flash and PDAF and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It is expected to have a price tag ranging from Rs 15,000 ($220) to Rs 20,000 ($294).
