Perennial powerhouse squad Shandong Luneng Taishan FC (2-8-4, 10 points) fell to struggling team Chongqing Lifan FC (3-6-6, 15 points), 1-2, in their recent 2016 Chinese Super League season match held at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center last Friday, June 24.

With the loss, Shandong Luneng, last season's second runner-up team and a consistent contender through the years in the China top flight competitions, has now extended their winless slide to nine games in the country's first division domestic association football league, one of their worst starts in club history.

They had been winless in 12 of their first 14 games so far as they are stuck at the cellar of the 16-team league table, two points below closest competitor Hangzhou Greentown FC. Shandong last experienced a CSL win back on April 15 when they defeated newly-promoted side Yanbian Funde FC, 3-1, at their home field of Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

It was also the third straight winless performance of Taishan Dui under new head coach Felix Magath, who replaced former mentor Mano Menezes who resigned earlier this month citing personal reasons as the cause of his departure.

Chongqing Lifan opened the match's scoring at the ninth minute with a goal from Brazilian winger Fernandinho off an assist from local midfielder Wu Qing, bringing a one-point lead up to the halftime break, via Soccerway.

Manager Chang Woe-ryong's side continued to possess the lead until Taishan Dui striker Yang Xu was able to find the equalizer at the 78th minute with a brilliant one-on-one move against Chongqing goalkeeper Deng Xiaofei.

The game looked headed into a draw when the full time whistle sounded, but Chongqing midfielder Wang Dong sealed the victory with a goal in injury time to snag the three points away from the visitors, courtesy of a cross by Brazilian forward Jael Ferreira, as per China.org.

It was Chongqing's second win in their last three outings as they climbed to the 10th spot of the overall standings coming from the bottom two relegation area a few weeks ago.
