OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has posted a sketch of the OnePlus smartwatch on his Twitter account. The Chinese company was reportedly working on the device in 2015. However, the company later decided to ditch the project.

According to Droid Life, the true reason why the OnePlus smartwatch would not ever be on anybody's wrists may never be known. The sketch shows that the gadget would have featured a standard smartwatch design with a round display and a detachable body.

Its method of switching bands would not have been the typical way, which is using a pin. The OnePlus smartwatch uses a removable component on the watch to attach the band. There have been no announcements about the price of the device or what operating system it would have been running on.

OnePlus' Chief Executive Officer Pete Lau confirmed that the company decided to discard the OnePlus smartwatch's design in order to focus more on their smartphones, 9to5Google reported.

Last month, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 3 smartphone, which has a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, a pixel density of 401 ppi, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.15 GHz. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with Adreno 530 GPU.
