Team Secret did not specify the exact reason for their withdrawal. Although there are rumors that the organizers of the event did not properly file the required paperwork for the visas of international teams.
There are also speculations that Team Secret backed out of Nanyang Championship to focus on practicing for the upcoming The International tournament in August, according to Gosu Gamers.
Before Team Secret's withdrawal, two major teams also announced their early exit from the tournament. Evil Geniuses and Fnatic announced their withdrawal due to issues regarding the visas of some of the members of both teams.
According to Gear Nuke, Evil Geniuses Dota 2 team manager Philip Aram confirmed that the team's midlaner Syed Sumail Hassan failed to acquire the necessary visa after being rejected three times. As for Fnatic, the team's support player DJ was not granted a visa to travel to Shanghai where the event will take place, hence the team's decision to withdraw from the tournament.
Chinese team LGD Gaming have replaced Fnatic in the tournament. Evil Geniuses and Team Secret's replacements have not yet been announced. The teams that have confirmed that they are joining the second season of Nanyang Championship are; NewBee, Team Empire, WarriorsGaming.Unity, and Digital Chaos.
