A new security flaw that endangers thousands of Lenovo Machines was recently discovered. The security flaw can give malicious users complete access to an affected computer by exploiting vulnerabilities and bypassing Windows security protocol.

The new security flaw was discovered by ethical hacker and professional security researcher Dymtro Oleksiuk, who is also known by his digital pseudonym "Cr4sh." The security glitch was immediately flagged as critical as it allows hackers to circumvent some of the basic security protocols implemented by the Windows operating system.

Oleksiuk claims that the vulnerable firmware driver was copied from data supplied by tech company Intel. The security researcher added that other hardware and computer manufacturers might have used the same code. Oleksiuk confirmed that at least one HP Pavilion laptop from 2010 has been tagged to have used the same erroneous codes.

Lenovo has quickly addressed the issue claiming that it had tried to contact Oleksiuk before he published the flaw to the public domain but the company was not successful. This corroborated a rumor that the erroneous code was supplied by a third party company working on the common code that was provided by Intel.

According to China Tech News, Lenovo has denied responsibility for the flaw stating that the code was not written by the company, but was provided by a third party company that works for Intel.

Lenovo later said that it is working with its partners to develop and release a patch that would fix the problem as soon as possible.

There are rumors that the erroneous code was intentionally placed to act as a sort of backdoor, according to Engadget. Oleksiuk mentioned this possibility in his post but did not elaborate on it.
