Former NBA D-League Player James Mays Scoops Player of the Week Award in Round 21 of China's Minor Basketball League

CBA foreign reinforcement James Mays of the Shaanxi Xinda Wolves had a spectacular double-double performance in the 21st round of the professional minor basketball league of China earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com NBL Player of the Week.
The 30-year-old American professional power-forward had a remarkable game performance; pouring in 40 big points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Mays led the Wolves to victory against Beijing Dongfan in a lopsided 126-93 win on Friday night.

Mays, who was an NBA Developmental League All-Star in 2013, has turned to be the Chinese club's top player with his very imposing stats this season. The 6-foot-9 tall native of Garner, North Carolina led Shaanxi to a 19-2 win-loss record. The team shares the number one spot with Anhui
According to Asia-Basket report, Mays is the NBL's ninth-best in rebounds,; having an average of 11.8 rebounds per game. He is also averaging an outstanding 2.4 steals per contest and registering a solid 64.5 percent shooting accuracy from the field.
In their most recent game, Mays posted an amazing 69.2 shooting percentage from the two-point area and was a steal shy of a triple-double game production, having nine steals against Beijing.
According to ESPN, Mays played college basketball for the Clemson Tigers in the NCAA Division I from 2004 to 2008. He was averaging 12.2 points per game during his junior years with the varsity and registered 10.7 points per match in his senior year with the Tigers.
Mays was not drafted in the 2008 NBA Draft but played in the NBA D-League, fitting in for the Colorado 14ers, Springfield Armor, Maine Red Claws, and Sioux Falls Skyforce. He also played in Turkey, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates.
