Basketball News: Former NBA Player Jeremy Pargo to Play for Shenzhen Leopards in the CBA

Chinese Basketball Association team Shenzhen Leopards has reportedly landed former NBA player Jeremy Pargo to play for the club in the upcoming 2016-17 season of the professional league, Asia-Basket reported.

The 30-year-old native of Chicago, Illonois last played for the Italian professional basketball team Reyer Venezia Mestre of the Lega Basket Serie A. Pargo played 11 official games with the Italian side and averaged 12.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest.

The 6-foot-2 tall American point guard is no stranger to the Chinese league. Pargo played in China on 2015 with Zhejiang Lions for a total of 40 matches.

He steered Zhejiang to a quarterfinal finish last season against the eventual league title winners Sichuan Blue Whales. During his stint with the Chinese team, Pargo had an impressive stats of 24.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.4 assists (the season's second-best) and 1.2 steals per game.

The 2008 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year winner also played for the Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club in Israel, where he helped the team wins the Israeli League Cup title. In his 39 games with the Israeli ballclub, Pargo registered 13.5 points, 6.6 assists, 2.6 boards and 1.3 steals per outing.

Pargo, who played college basketball with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, went undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft. However, the Memphis Grizzlies hired his services in December 2011 after a successful Euroleague season. According to the official website of the NBA, Pargo appeared for the Grizzlies in a total of 44 games, averaging 2.9 points and 1.3 assists in 9.6 minutes of playing time.

In July 2012, Pargo was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and played 25 games averaging 7.8 points and 2.6 dimes in 17.9 minutes on the hard wood before being waived by the team in January 2013. He later played for the Philadelphia 76ers for 14 games.
