As with most major tech companies, Chinese tech giant Baidu is also stepping up its game when it comes to cloud computing services. Baidu is currently looking for ways to diversify its revenue and not just focus on the advertising business, especially with the recent tightening of the regulations in China.

Recently, Baidu unveiled new artificial intelligence and big data services to its customers who are using Baidu Open Cloud in China. The tech giant announced that three new platforms would be established to give its user base options to use big data services, video and image processing services, and smart Internet of Things services.

Baidu is looking to target its new services toward the energy sector, as well as the retail and logistics industries. China's cloud computing market is still in its infancy, but many tech analysts predict that it will grow to a $1.5 billion industry in 2013 to about $20 billion by 2020, according to Forbes.

As more international companies are turning their sights toward China, Baidu is establishing a firm hold of the industry to compete once new players come rushing in.

In a statement, Baidu chief executive office Robin Li said, "Baidu's unique strengths in AI and big data differentiate us from traditional cloud computing services."

Baidu Open Cloud's three new platforms are Baidu TianXiang, which will focus on smart multimedia cloud, Baidu TianSuan, which will deal with smart big data business, and Baidu TianGong, which will deal with intelligent services on the Internet of Things platform.
