Jet Li, Fan Bingbing’s ‘League of Gods’ Opens on July 29

Chinese stars Jet Li and Fan Bingbing will be back on the big screen once again as they star in the fantasy film "League of Gods" which will open in China on July 29.

The movie, which has been patterned after an ancient Chinese mythology "Fengshen Bang," will tackle the story of a group of Chinese superheroes wherein the 53-year-old actor and 34-year-old singer-actress will be a part of.

Tony Leung Ka-Fai has also joined the cast of "League of Gods" as King Zhou, the last ruler of Shang dynasty, while Angelababy, who just appeared in the Hollywood film "Independence Day: Resurgence," will portray the role of The Mermaid, Yibada reported.

Based on the released details of the upcoming film, its plot will thicken when King Zhou will be put under the spell of the vixen spirit named Daji, who will disguise as among his concubines.

And to make the project even more exciting, especially to the Chinese viewers, Jacky Heung has also been cast as Leizhenzi.

Written by Cheryykoko and Samson Sun, the "League of Gods" has gathered composer John Debney of "The Jungle Book," sound designer Brent Burge of "The Hobbit," and editor Wayne Philip Wahrman of "I am Legend" to form its creative team.

In China, the movie will be distributed in more than 15,000 theaters by Bona Film Group.

Aside from the country of origin of Jet Li and Fan Bingbing, the "League of Gods" will be distributed as well in Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Japan, South Korea, Israel and the Middle East by IM Global, and by Sony Pictures Releasing International in North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand and the West indies.
