Anhui Wenyi Overpowers Henan in 24th Round of Chinese National Basketball League

The league's second-leading team Anhui Wenyi demolished the third-ranked Henan with a dominating 103-85 victory in the 24th round of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL) on Friday.
With the win, the WeiDong Hu-headed team improved to a 21-3 win-loss record and remains on the No. 2 spot in the league's team standings. Shaanxi Xinda is the current No.1 club in China's minor league with a 22-2 win-loss regular season record.

According to Asia-Basket, Local player Yong Gang Zhang led the winning team with a remarkable performance of 27 points. The 27-year-old 6-foot-6-inch tall Chinese guard went 11 for 19 from the field including two treys from beyond the arc region and registered three steals in 31 minutes of playing.
Back-up guard Yansong Ma contributed 17 markers while foreign reinforcement Chris Singleton just scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Anhui.
Anhui, which posted the NBL's longest winning streaks this season with 16 games won, began the opening quarter with a strong start by staging a 25-18 first-period run. The winning team entered the second half of the game with a comfortable 22-point lead 51-29 and continued to storm Henan with another 27-25 third quarter outburst to establish a commanding 24-point advantage 78-54 going into the final quarter of the game.
According to EuroBasket, Anhui registered a team combined 17 assists compared to the 6 dimes of the opposing squad. The winners also demonstrated a better defense, snatching 12 steals and forcing Henan to commit 20 turnovers during the game.
Chinese forward Peng Peng Li paced Henan with a double-double production of game-highs 28 points and 13 rebounds while American Darius Washington was the only other player in Henan team to score a double-figure with 10 points.
Henan is scheduled to face Lhasa in the next round of the regular season on Sunday.
