Second-running squad Jiangsu Suning FC is coming back to form as they routed contending team Henan Jianye FC, 4-1, in a 2016 Chinese Super League encounter at their home stadium of Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on Sunday.

It was the second consecutive win for head coach Choi Yong-soo's side after going on a two-game losing skid losing to lowly clubs Shandong Luneng and Yanbian Funde.

Newcomers Hong Jeong-Ho and Roger Martinez displayed their offensive skills during the match to help the hosts cut the lead of defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande to only seven points in the overall standings with ten games left in Suning's campaign this term.

The first half ended in a scoreless draw as the two teams started the game rather tentatively as the two-import frontline of the Red Devils composed of Brazilian Ivo and Filipino Javier Patiño were unable to break through the Jiangsu defense.

Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Alex Teixeira, Wu Xi, Ji Xiang, and Martinez were also feeling each other out in the opening minutes as the team seemingly missed former striker Jô, who is relegated to the reserve squad at the moment.

Teixeira and Jô's countryman, former Chelsea midfielder Ramires, is still serving the four-match ban he received after an angry reaction to his red card booking during the team's 1-2 defeat to Shandong Luneng. Ramires is set to return in their road game on Saturday against Shanghai Shenhua.

It took 50 minutes of play before Teixeira finally broke the deadlock to give Jiangsu a 1-0 lead, Xinhuanet reported. South Korean defender Hong then doubled the lead 12 minutes later off an assist by Australian teammate Trent Sainsbury.

The lead continued to grow as Martinez netted a penalty kick at the 68th before he provided a pass to local midfielder Ji Xiang at the 76th to make it an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.

Henan scored a consolation goal at the 79th courtesy of winger Zhong Jinbao from a cross by teammate Yin Hongbo, via Soccerway.

Head coach Jia Xiuquan's squad played with a one-man disadvantage starting the 85th minute when winger Feng Zhuoyi was sent off after getting booked with a second yellow card, although it did not matter at all as both teams went scoreless from then on until full time.
