Newly-promoted side Yanbian Funde FC is surging stronger as the 2016 Chinese Super League season goes nearer to its conclusion, pulling off a 3-1 win over contending squad Guangzhou R&F FC at the Yanji Nationwide Fitness Centre Stadium last Saturday in a battle between streaking teams.

The two clubs are coming off winning streaks as they both managed to significantly climb away from the bottom two relegation zone in the overall standings. However, head coach Park Tae-ha's boys managed to continue theirs while stopping the Blue Lions' own four-game winning run with the convincing victory at home.

South Korean striker Kim Seung-dae scored the opening goal of the contest for Yanbian at the 28th minute from an assist by Gambian midfielder Bubacarr Trawally, as per Xinhuanet. Kim had scored three times in the last three games, making him the current top goalscorer of the Yanji residents.

His countryman, winger Yoon Bit-garam, doubled the lead at the 39th minute as it was Kim's turn to provide an assist. The team reached the halftime break with a 2-0 advantage after Guangzhou failed to score in the whole first half.

Yanbian continued its attack in the second half as local striker Jin Bo scored the team's third goal at the 64th with a pass from midfielder Li Haojie.

Head coach Dragan Stojković's side, who pulled off a 2-1 upset win over defending champions and current league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao during the previous round, finally netted a goal at the 73rd with an individual move by midfielder Lu Lin, but it was too late for them to mount a comeback, via Soccerway.

The win was Yanbian's third straight and fourth out of their last five assignments. The team remained at eighth place in the overall standings, three points behind Guangzhou R&F, with 11 games left in their current campaign.

Funde, who won the China League One competitions last season, is looking to avoid a demotion back to the second division next term.
