Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo recently turned down a transfer offer from Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG FC which had left Jose Mourinho "frustrated" about the Old Trafford club's ongoing rebuilding effort.
The 26-year-old Argentina international had been "tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer" the new manager is rumored to be "unimpressed" by his performance in training and preseason games.

Last season, Rojo had been struggling to stay healthy under then head coach Louis van Gaal that never allowed him to meet expectations with the Red Devils since he was acquired from Sporting Lisbon two summers ago.
In two years with United, Rojo had appeared in a total of 53 games in all competitions for the English Premier League side and had scored a goal in the process.
The Daily Express noted that one team that has an eye on the 6-foot-2 Argentinian is Shanghai SIPG with influential head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson wanting to bring him to the Shanghai Stadium "to join up with former Porto and Zenit powerhouse Hulk".
However, Rojo reportedly "snubbed" the offer as the La Plata, Argentina native wanted to "fight for his place" in Mourinho's rotation.
The Red Devils is rumored to be demanding a £10 million transfer fee for Rojo, which the Red Eagles are ready to comply with.
The report also indicated that aside from Rojo, another defender, Phil Jones, could also be forced to exit Manchester as the Special One wants a revolution on his defensive options heading into the new season. Rumors abound that newly-promoted side Hull City wants Jones on loan next season and United could accept any offer they submit.
Meanwhile, The Sun reported that Mourinho is targeting a new veteran center back and another right back to install in his preferred defense as he finds the existing ones handed to him by the sacked van Gaal as somewhat lacking.
However, he "needs to reduce the number of players at the club before spending in the transfer market again ahead of a mammoth fee spent for Paul Pogba" and so unwanted players are being sold as quickly as possible.
