Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has confirmed that the latest version of its MIUI firmware - the MIUI 8 - would be available for download starting August 23. The new MIUI 8 software update will be rolled out for Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Xiaomi Mi Max, and Xiaomi Redmi 3s/3s Prime.

This information has been confirmed by the company's representative Jani Mani during an interview at the launch event of Xiaomi Redmi 3S, News18.com reported. Mani noted that this software update will be available for other Xiaomi devices starting August 23. Apart from this, no other information has been revealed about the latest Xiaomi MIUI 8 user interface.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi Redmi 3s smartphone in China. The smartphone is available in two models - one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage priced at 697.01 Yuan ($104.71) and another model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage priced at 896.24 Yuan ($134.64).

The Xiaomi Redmi 3s smartphone features a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS display screen. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at speed of 1.1GHz paired with Adreno 505 GPU. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box with the MIUI 7.5 user interface.

The Redmi 3s smartphone sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), HDR mode, it supports up to 1080p video recording, and LED flash. It has a 5-megapixel front facing camera capable of taking video recordings up to 1080p. The device comes with a 4100mAh capacity battery.

The connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, 4G, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Glonass, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
