Middling team Beijing Guoan FC (7-5-7, 28 points) will try to extend their unbeaten run to five games as they host mercurial squad Chongqing Lifan FC (6-9-6, 24 points) at their home ground of Workers' Stadium on Friday, August 12 as the Chinese Super League season continues.

Beijing Guoan had been on a roll in the four weeks, registering two wins and two draws, to keep themselves settled at the eighth spot of the 16-team China top flight table. The team is tied on points with newly-promoted side Yanbian Funde and reeling contenders Henan Jianye.

The Imperial Guards were able to hold off current league leaders and defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC to a goalless draw on Tuesday to keep themselves undefeated in their last four outings, as per Soccerway.

Head coach Xie Feng's crew forced the Southern China Tigers to only their fourth drawn match of the season even without the services of Brazilian midfielder Renato Augusto, who is still with his national squad competing in the ongoing Summer Olympics in Rio.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Lifan continued to display their inconsistent performances after a 0-3 thrashing in the hands of cellar dwellers Changchun Yatai FC on the road at the Development Area Stadium on July 31, Xinhuanet reported.

Head coach Chang Woe-ryong's boys were unable to produce any goals in the match as they dropped their third game in their last five matches, alternating winning and losing respectively.

Chongqing is now at the 11th spot of the league table after suffering their ninth loss this term. They are five points clear of the bottom two relegation zone, but a long 10 points away from the third and last AFC Champions League qualifying berth currently held by Shanghai SIPG.

The predicted result is a 1-0 win for Beijing Guoan.
