FC Seoul defeated Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds, 3-3 (7-6 on penalties), during the second leg of their final-16 meeting also at their home stadium on May 25 to advance in this month's quarterfinals, Yonhap reported.
Seoul center back Kim Dong-woo provided what was the winning spot kick after Red Diamonds winger Yoshiaki Komai's turn was saved by goalkeeper Yoo Sang-hun to pull off the exciting win for manager Hwang Sun-hong's side.
Coach Hwang will continue to rely on his imports, namely Brazilian striker Adriano, former Beijing Guoan and Montenegrin forward Dejan Damjanovic, and team captain and Spanish defender Osmar Barba, in this game against Shandong.
Meanwhile, Shandong Luneng will also be parading new imports in this first leg ACL match with former Southampton forward Graziano Pellè and ex-Newcastle United striker Papiss Cissé now suited up for head coach Felix Magath's team.
Magath will also have the Brazilian defending duo of Jucilei and Gil in his backfield and Argentine midfielder Walter Montillo as his backup playmaker in his foreign players lineup.
Taishan Dui was still under former manager Mano Menezes when they beat A-League side Sydney FC, 3-3, on aggregate, in their Round-of-16 games. Shandong held Sydney to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of their series held at the Sydney Football Stadium to win on away goals and move on to the quarters, as per Goal.
