Powerhouse squad Shanghai SIPG FC extended their two-game unbeaten run to three games as the team routed bottom two club Shijiazhuang Ever Bright FC, 4-1, in a round 23 match in the 2016 Chinese Super League season held at their home field of Shanghai Stadium last Friday.

Defender Fu Huan scored the opening goal of the contest at the 10th minute for head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's side off an assist from forward Yu Hai to take the early lead. But Shijiazhuang's Brazilian import Matheus Nascimento was able to level the count only eleven minutes later as he deflected a cross by Portuguese midfielder Ruben Micael towards SIPG keeper Yan Junling's net, making it 1-1 at the halftime break, as per Soccerway.

Three second half goals, courtesy of Argentine midfielder Dario Conca, Brazilian striker Elkeson, and local right winger Wu Lei, wrapped up the match in favor of the hosts. Elkeson assisted to Conca and Wu for their goals at the 54th and 75th while he successfully sank a penalty kick at the 66th.

It was the first win of the Red Eagles in four games as they are coming off a 1-3 upset loss to Liaoning Whowin three rounds earlier and two straight drawn matches with Guangzhou R&F (3-3) and Yanbian Funde (1-1).

SIPG is still at the fourth spot of the current league table with 38 points, two points below cross-city rivals Shanghai Shenhua who is temporarily holding the third spot and the last AFC Champions League berth for next season.

Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Conca could miss SIPG's Champions League quarterfinals match against South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors after suffering a knee injury in the second half versus Ever Bright.

The 33-year-old General Pacheco, Argentina native collided with Shijiazhuang goalkeeper Guan Zhen at the 57th and he was stretchered off the pitch afterwards.

"Conca's injury is irrelevant to his old injury," Coach Eriksson said. "It is the other knee. Now he is in the hospital, and we will know better in a few hours. I hope it is not that bad. It is probably because he fell and hurt his knee when landing."
