Chinese actress Fan Bingbing has been named as the fifth-highest paid actress in the world in 2016, stuck between Charlize Theron and Jennifer Aniston.

Forbes released its list of the top 10 highest-paid actresses this year and Fan claimed the fifth position on the list, one slot behind last year's ranking.

Fan, who played the role of Blink in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," raked in $17 million over the past year after starring in films like "Skiptrace," "League of Gods" and "Lady of the Dynasty."

The 34-year-old star reported earnings higher than several Hollywood actresses including Theron, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts and Mila Kunis. "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence topped the list with $46 million, followed by Melissa McCarthy, Scarlett Johansson and Aniston.

Fan's earnings this year are $4 million short of last year's numbers. In 2015, a list revealing how much money Chinese actresses were pocketing was published online and it reported that Fan was charging 30 million yuan in total for her television appearances.

In 2014, Fan featured in the big-budget historical drama "The Empress of China," which briefl pulled off air because some of the outfits worn by actresses on the show were deemed too racy by Chinese censors.

Fan recently pulled out of an upcoming shark movie titled "Meg," which stars Hollywood actor Jason Statham as a deep-sea diver who takes on a prehistoric Megalodon shark in China, as previously reported.
