ZTE Unveils Axon 7 Mini at 2016 IFA

Chinese tech company ZTE has officially unveiled the Axon 7 Mini at the 2016 IFA conference in Berlin, Germany. The Axon 7 Mini is a more affordable version of the Axon 7.

ZTE designed the Axon 7 Mini in collaboration with BMW Designworks consultancy firm. Unlike the Axon 7, which boasts of a 5.5-inch display, the Mini version of the device has a 5.2-inch display. It retains the all metal body build of the original, along with the curved rear design.

The ZTE Axon 7 is billed as the company's flagship device, the Axon 7 Mini is its more affordable little brother. Affordability means that ZTE has to cut corners in terms of specs, which is why the Mini only has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 820 on the Axon 7, according to GSM Arena.

The Axon 7 Mini has an octa-core processor, 3GB of memory, and 32GB of storage space which can be expanded via a microSD card slot. Its 5.2-inch display supports 1080 x 1920 resolution and 424ppi pixel density.

The device boasts of a 16-megapixel rear facing main camera with phase detection autofocus, sapphire lens, f/1.9 aperture, and dual-LEN flash. It can also record 1080p videos at 30 frames-per-second. The Axon 7 Mini has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie shoots.

The ZTE Axon 7 Mini has a pretty standard set of connectivity features. It supports dual-SIM configuration, 4G LTE, USB Type-C, and NFC. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Powering the device is a 2705mAh battery pack with Quick Charge 2.0 support.
