Huawei MediaPad M3: 8.4-inch Tablet With Hi-Res Display and LTE Support

Following the launch of Huawei's successful Nova smartphone, the Chinese tech giant has once again surprised the tech community with a new tablet unveiled on the second day of the 2016 IFA conference in Berlin, Germany. Dubbed as the Huawei MediaPad M3, the company's newest tablet device aims to rival the Apple iPad and the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.

Earlier this year, Huawei released the 2-in-1 Matebook; a tablet-laptop combo that has a keyboard and a stylus. The Huawei MediaPad M3 is a tablet.

The MediaPad M3 boasts of an 8.4-inch display with 2560 x 1600 resolution. The MediaPad M3 has Harman Kardon stereo speakers with Hi-Def audio support.

Although most tablets primarily focus on media playback, the Huawei MediaPad M3's hardware specs is capable of handling movie editing applications, high-end mobile gaming, and other demanding apps. At the heart of the Huawei MediaPad M3 is the Kirin 950 chipset with an octa-core processor, four of which are clocked at 2.3GHz and the other four are clocked at 1.8GHz, according to Engadget. The MediaPad M3 is available in two storage options, 32GB and 64GB, both of which supports SD card expansion and have 4GB of memory.

The MediaPad M3 is equipped with a massive 5100mAh battery pack which should be able to power the device for at least a day on normal usage.

The Huawei MediaPad M3 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei Emotion UI 4.1. It supports standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It also has a nano-SIM card slot and LTE support.
