Despite economic headwinds, China added about 4.43 million jobs from January to April of this year, in line with the Chinese government's target of creating more than 10 million new urban jobs in 2016.

China is set to combine more big state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as part of a sweeping plan to cut industrial overcapacity and promote growth and employment opportunities in other sectors of the nation's economy, a senior regulator said on Saturday.

The number of new jobs created in China this year is expected to surpass 13 million after the country's economy added 10.82 million new jobs during the January-September period, state media reported.

Urban unemployment rate in China was 4.07 percent at the end of September, nearly the same as the 4.08% rate registered in the second quarter of this year, the country's labor ministry revealed.
