Contestants from more than 110 nations have arrived in the Southern Chinese island of Hainan this week for the 65th annual Miss World contest. Unfortunately, Miss Canada was absent from the opening ceremony.

China-born actress Anastasia Lin, who was crowned Miss World Canada 2015, has allegedly been denied entry to Beijing for the upcoming Miss World beauty pageant on Dec. 19 because of her human rights advocacy against the country.

Miss World Canada Anastasia Lin has accused China of trying to prevent her entry to the Miss World competition finals, which is scheduled to be held in the country on November 21. Chinese-Canadian Lin believes that her outspoken views on human rights in China is the primary reason why the authorities are yet to issue an invitation letter to her for the competition set to be staged in Sanya, Hainan Island.
