The Washington Wizards are not willing to offer Bradley Beal four-year maximum contract just yet in its desire to land hometown superstar Kevin Durant next season. According to CSN Washington's J.Michael, Beal insist he deserves a max contract but the Wizards want to preserve their cap space for Durant and offered less.

The Toronto Raptors are close to finalizing four-year contract extension with center Jonas Valanciunas, reportedly for over $60 million. However, the Raptors need to pursue a trade for Phoenix Suns power forward Markieff Morris to fill their need for a starting stretch four. With most NBA teams able to utilize the small-ball scheme with players who can stretch the floor from the power forward position, the Raptors are at a big disadvantage.

Was J.R. Smith lying when he said that opted to re-join the Cleveland Cavaliers next season for the chance to win an NBA championship over getting a more lucrative deal elsewhere? According to Eric Freeman of Yahoo Sports' Ball Don't Lie column, it's more likely that Smith was expecting larger offers to come but saw little interest, so he made it appear that winning an NBA title was his priority.

Shooting guard Jason Richardson will join Atlanta Hawks while fellow veteran Tayshaun Prince will sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yahoo Sports reported that Richardson, a 13-year-year NBA veteran, will sign a non-guaranteed contract. He visited the Hawks on Friday.
Cavs More Dangerous With Tristan Thomson, Says LeBron James

LeBron James said that restricted free agent power forward Tristan Thompson makes them more dangerous in both short and long terms. He made the comment while reminding the Cleveland Cavaliers front office it needs to make re-signing Thompson as No. 1 objective, according to ESPN.
