With its new Chief Executive Officer Lou Chi, who is a former Tencent employee, FiresVR is aiming to provide content and related technologies to VR hardware manufacturers.

In an interview with All China Tech, FiresVR CEO Lou said, "The VR industry was still at its very beginning a year ago. Many VR players rushed to make plastic versions of Google Cardboard and put them into the market. FiresVR was one of the few companies that took longer to create their technology."

Founded in October 2014, FiresVR has 30 staff; 24 of them are on the technical department. Since the company's early days, Lou said has been capable of making virtual reality glasses which can be attached to a smartphone, and even standalone models. Nonetheless, FiresVR decided to focus on providing virtual reality solutions to other companies instead of directly competing with them.

FiresVR has its homegrown virtual reality operating system called JiDome OS. The company has also launched its VR store called JiDome Store, where users can purchase a variety of virtual reality contents like VR games. FiresVR earns by charging a license fee to companies who want to use its platform.

FiresVR's optimism finally paid off when the company raised RMB10 million (about $1.5 million) in a round of funding in August 2015. Back then, the company was valued at RMB100 million (roughly $15 million).
