It appears that Japan is looking forward to become the first country to implement 5G technology. Japanese firm SoftBank recently announced a newly formed partnership with Chinese tech giants Huawei and ZTE to help the county implement 5G network technology.
While it can be noted that Singapore's Singtel has started running 5G trials together with T-Mobile, Japanese telecommunications firm SoftBank is also moving towards that direction in order not to be left behind.

Accordingly, SoftBank is in constant negotiation with China's Huawei and ZTE corporations in order to develop the company's 5G telecom infrastructure.Recent reports revealed that majority of the needed 5G infrastructures are already deployed in Japan, while industry standards for the 5G technology are still under development.
In a statement obtained by South China Morning Post, somenone privy of SoftBank's 5G project said, "The SoftBank-branded equipment used in that implementation in over 100 urban base stations in Japan is really a mix of XTE and Huawei network products."
The insider, who wants to maintain his anonymity, disclosed that the haste of how these 5G infrastructures were deployed simply shows how committed and confident SoftBank is with its two Chinese partners.
The source noted, though, that there is reportedly a certain degree of skepticism about the deal on the side of Huawei and ZTE following a concern with the United States Authorities. Huawei is being investigated for its alleged ties with North Korea and Iran. Meanwhile, the US Commerce Department imposed certain restrictions on ZTE for an alleged business dealing with Iran.
In the meantime, CNet reported that the anticipated 5G telecommunications technology in Japan will be around 30 to 50 times faster than current 4G LTE technology. To put it in perspective, a full-length HD film can be downloaded in just a matter of seconds when using such connection.
