Katie Holmes is marking her directorial debut in the film adaptation of Annie Weatherwax's freshman novel "All We Had", where she also stars in.
Holmes optioned the book in July, before its public release last August 5.
While "The Fault in Our Stars" director Josh Boone joins Holmes to write the screen adaptation of the book, Tribeca Prods. partner Jane Rosenthal and VP of production Berry Welsh will be producing the movie.

The plot revolves around an impoverished mother and her 13-year old daughter who make their home amongst quirky small town residents in the United States.
"I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen," Holmes shared.
Aside from directing the movie, the actress also stars in the dark comedy, "Miss Meadows", which will premiere in theaters in November. Holmes is also busy filming a drama with Helen Mirren entitled "The Woman in Gold".
Holmes is in the recently released flick, "The Giver", where she starred opposite Taylor Swift, Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. She said when she read the book after reading the script, she understood why it is a classic.
Many said her role in "The Giver" as a mother who strictly executed the dictates of a constraining society was a subtle commentary about her previous life with Tom Cruise and Scientology.
"What I love about the movie is, you know, you really see this extreme society," she said.
Rosenthal, whose producing credits included "Rent," "Meet the Parents," "Meet the Fockers" and "Little Fockers", said he was very impressed with how Katie intends to interpret the story.
"Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life," Rosenthal said.
