Faced with growing demands even before hitting the market, General Motors has announced that it is ramping up the production of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The electric car received an EPA rating of 238 miles and stands to be one of the premier competitors to Tesla-branded electric vehicles.

The first batch of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is expected to be released before the end of the year. As expected, the first Bolt EVs will be released in California, the state which is home to about half of all electric and plug-in hybrid cars in the United States. There are reports claiming that the Chevy Bolt will be rolled out in Oregon at the same time as California as well, according to Hybrid Cars.

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV are being assembled at the Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan. This same facility is where the Sonic subcompact cars were assembled, according to Green Car Reports.

The Orion Assembly Plant has a production rate of 90,000 cars per year with the current single shift of operations. While this figure is not official for the Chevy Bolt, it will give some analysts a hint of how much units the facility can assemble within a given period.

Regarding the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, the car is expected to cost $37,495 before the $7,500 federal tax. Except for California and Oregon, which are expected to receive the Bolt EV before the end of the year. The car is expected to be rolled out in other states by early 2017. GM is yet to confirm how many of its dealers will sell the Chevy Bolt. GM has a total of around 3,000 dealers across the country.
