Manchester United could reportedly lose Bastian Schweinsteiger and David De Gea in January as both players are being targeted by different teams.

According to the Mirror, Schweinsteiger is currently in talks with Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire about a possible transfer move, which could be his ticket out of his dreary situation at Old Trafford.

The former Germany team captain has lost his place in head coach Jose Mourinho's plans this season and has not appeared in any game for the Red Devils.

Schweinsteiger earlier said that he is keen to battle for a spot in Mourinho's lineup, but he may be changing his mind as there seems to be no chance for him to break through the Portuguese coach's first-team.

The 32-year-old midfielder reportedly had an appointment with Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic last week, but the details of the meeting have not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper David De Gea is also at risk of leaving the Premier League side as La Liga giants Real Madrid is rumored to be preparing to rekindle their interest on the Spain international, according to Caught Offside.

De Gea, who is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe right now, has a huge $65 million release clause in his current contract with United. However, some football analysts believe that it is not enough to keep him from leaving the Old Trafford.

A club like Real Madrid certainly has enough funds to pull off a De Gea purchase, but the Spanish capital city squad has been prohibited by FIFA from buying players in the next two transfer windows for breaching rules on the transfer of foreign players under 18.

The next opportunity for Los Blancos to participate in the transfer window will be in January of 2018.

Rumors abound that Real is prepared to pay De Gea's transfer fee to move him back to Spain.
