Rumors have emerged that Sacramento Kings forward Omri Casspi could request a trade as his playing time continues to dwindle under new head coach Dave Joerger.

NBC Bay Area reported that the seven-year pro is demanding a trade out of Sacramento as his playing time is currently down to 15.3 minutes a night with Joerger from the 27.2 minutes per game he had received from George Karl last season.

With the minutes drop, his averages also fell from career-highs of 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last season to 4.3 points and 3.2 boards after only six appearances in 11 games so far this season.

Casspi quickly denied the rumors, telling reporters that there is "Zero truth to that. Zero."

However, it was reportedly evident that Casspi is "unhappy in his role" with Joerger, particularly when the coach announced that he will be out of the team's rotation before their game against the Toronto Raptors earlier this month.

"I didn't think this season would start the way it did for me, minutes wise," said Casspi. "Now it's up to me to work hard in practice like I've been doing and try to get back in the rotation, because obviously, I'm out of it now."

Joerger has utilized Casspi as a substitute stretch four and sometimes a backup small forward as well, but the bulk of the reserve minutes are being eaten up by Anthony Tolliver and Matt Barnes, both of whom are also veterans.

Casspi acknowledged that such setbacks are "part of being in the NBA" and that he would be a professional about it. He added, however, that he "didn't think from the organization standpoint" that his minutes would fall "from playing 27 minutes to taking me out of the rotation so quick."

SB Nation indicated that the Boston Celtics are interested in acquiring the 28-year-old Israeli sharpshooter along with sophomore center Willie Cauley-Stein from the Kings.

The Celtics are said to be looking to add frontcourt depth, outside shooting, interior defense, and rebounding to struggling team, all of which can be provided by the pair, but it remains to be seen if Boston would be prepared for what the Kings will ask for in return.
