In a statement acquired by News.com.au, Qualcomm senior director of product management Everett Roach said, "We put a lot of hard work and engineering into new products, and we're going to deliver what we hope is a much better charging experience from 2016."

Qualcomm said that the charging time of Quick Charge 4 will depend on the device. The company added that the new technology can charge a smartphone battery up to five hours of battery life in just five minutes, and charge the battery from zero to 50 percent in merely 15 minutes.

Compared with the previous version of the technology, Quick Charge 4 is about 20 percent more efficient. The new quick charging technology will be integrated into Qualcomm's upcoming chipset, the Snapdragon 835, which is expected to be launched early next year.

Quick Charge 3, the current version of Qualcomm's fast charging technology, is integrated into the Snapdragon 820 chipset. This means that smartphone models that use this chipset can take advantage of the quick charging technology. Popular smartphone models that run on the Snapdragon 820 chipset are the HTC 10, LG V20, and the ZTE Axon, according to The Daily Mail.

While fast charging technologies are becoming a major factor in buying smartphones, tech giant Google is implementing new guidelines in order to regulate such technologies, especially with the growing concern regarding exploding batteries.
