Google could possibly unveil the Nexus 8 tablet on Oct. 8, which can mean its release date will come in the following weeks.

Nexus 8 is scheduled to be Google's upcoming tablet with Android 5.0 L as a successor to the Nexus 7, which is still one of the most powerful tablets to date. Here is everything about the Google Nexus 8 specs, release date and price.

Nexus 8 will have an 8.9-inch screen with 1080p resolution. NVIDIA also claimed to have its improved Tegra K1 chip in the Nexus 8 and boasted about the processor called Project David as being a powerful mobile computing prowess with super-efficient energy use.

The chip will have 3 GB of RAM, as opposed to 4 GB of RAM better paired with the 64-bit standard in the Android platform.

Nexus 8 is also rumored to sport a 16 megapixel rear camera with waterproof protection. This camera can be remotely controlled from another mobile device through an app.

HTC and Google have apparently develped a high-end device that can kill the iPad Mini and iPad Air. The Nexus 8 or 9 is said to have 16 GB of internal storage but support a memory expansion slot that can add up 128 GB of digital space.

Nexus 7 sells for £299 (US$488).  Nexus 8 is expected to cost more as it has a larger screen and improved specs.

Notably, Google does not earn money from hardware profit margins and might want to undercut its competition. According to GSMInsider, the import-export database showed the Nexus 8 has a value of US$275 or £160.
