After months of negotiations and speculations about the cast and the show, the "Big Bang Theory" is set to air the very first episode of its eighth season. 

Here are some things you can expect:

1. Leonard and Penny

Last season saw the on-again, off-again pair finally take a huge leap by getting engaged.

After getting fired from the horror B-movie "Serial Ape-ist", Penny has been hit by the realization that maybe acting isn't for her; but then again, she didn't want to go back to being a waitress in the Cheesecake Factory. 

Penny is then prompted to make a huge career change. She takes a job as a pharmaceutical rep for Bernadette's company and, starts earning some serious cash. This causes friction between Leonard and Penny, especially since Leonard always had the upper hand when it came to finances.

Despite getting engaged last season, don't expect the pair to tie the knot just yet.

Big Bang Theory executive producer Steven Molaro shared, "Penny's first goal is to put the date far enough off in the future that everyone knows that she's not pregnant."

Don't expect actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting to be donning a long wig either. Her new short 'do has been written into the show. Characters will even be joking about her new haircut in the first episode.

2. Sheldon and Amy

Despite already having kissed last season, there are no plans of heating things up further between Sheldon and Amy. Management has shared that there are no plans as of coitus yet between the two characters. That doesn't mean though that Amy won't keep on trying to push the relationship forward.

From the last episode of season 7, Sheldon was seen leaving. In the pilot episode of season 8 entitled "The Locomotion Interruption", Sheldon will once again be robbed during his trip - much like when his things got stolen when he attempted to move to Bozeman, Montana in the past.

Sheldon will have only been gone for 45 days before he moves back.

3. Amy, Bernadette and Penny

There will be tension between Bernadette and Penny, especially that they now work in the same company.

Instead of being the peacemaker, Amy hilariously pits the two against each other in episode 2.

4. Raj and Emily 

The two are still mad for each other. Following episodes will further explore Emily's personality.

5. Howard, Stuart and the Comic Book Store

After Stuart moves in to take care of Mrs. Wolowitz, he tries to take on a father-figure role with Howard.

Howard will extremely be "weirded out" by the relationship.

While it is unclear when the Comic Book Store will return, Molaro assured, "There will be a comic book store in the future. The show will not go on without a comic book store, I promise you."

Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory premieres Monday, September 22 on CBS.
