The Nexus 8 has also been dubbed as the Nexus 9. MoDaco co-founder Paul O'Brien said that the Nexus 8 could be released on Oct. 16. However, speculated maker of the handset HTC and Google have not confirmed any release date. Other Nexus 8 features reportedly include an 8.9-inch display with either 2560 x 1440 pixels of 2048 x 1440 pixels resolution, 4GB of RAM and a price tag starting at $275.
Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 is said to sport a 5.2-inch QHD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with 3GB of RAM based on an AnTuTu benchmark report. According to reports, Google is also keeping the small batteries of its previous models. For instance, the Nexus 5 is said to have a 2300 mAh battery which was designed after the LG G2's specs which include a 2000 mAh battery. However, it's only about time that Google adds a 3000 mAh battery on the next-gen smartphone.
Google Android 5.0 L has been reported many times after its announcement at the I/O conference. Google will offer platform unity with its UI interface Material Design. The mobile OS is also said to come with an automatic personal data encryption like the iOS 8.
According to Google spokeswoman Nikki Christoff, Android has been offering encryption for more than three years and keys aren't stored off of its devices so these can't be shared with law enforcement. She said that encryption will be part of the upcoming Android release, enabled out of the box by default so users do not have to worry about turning it on.
