The wait for the Nexus 6 release date may soon be over as new reports suggest the pure Android smartphone will likely be released on Nov. 1.

A week ago, Paul O'Brien said the alleged HTC Nexus 9 could possibly be released on Oct. 16. He said the information came from a tipster he didn't know but Android developers will likely not post a date or information he doesn't have good reason to believe in.

Android Authority also claims the upcoming Nexus smartphone rollout will start early in November, citing two different sources close to Google.

The blog added that the company will also hold an Oct. 16 event where it will unveil three products, including two devices and a software. This could be the new Android version called Android L. Other reports call the mobile operating system Android 5.0.

Android Authority says that while it's confident in the disclosed information, these dates can still change and that even the most reliable source can still prove false sometimes.

Google is busy developing its new devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8.

The two devices are manufactured by different companies but both are set to replace the Nexus 7. Early Moto X reviews said it's the best Android smartphone so far with regard to its hardware and software.

If this is the case, then the Nexus 6 also has the potential to compete against the iPhone 6, which was dubbed as the best 2014 smartphone even before it was released to the public.

Beyond the specs, however, it's Google's operating system that will be the killer feature in the new Nexus devices. That software is the upcoming Android L.
