Rafael Nadal’s Impending Decline Emboldens Young Guns To Attack Him in Tournaments

Former world's no.1 men's singles netter Rafael Nadal suffered a shocking quarterfinal exit at the China Open 2014, bowing out to unheralded Serbian Martin Klizan in three sets.
While a loss in his first ATP tournament coming off a wrist injury is understandable, there's a growing concerns among tennis pundits if Nadal will ever still play at a high level moving forward.

After 14 Grand Slam titles and multiple records shatters, is the career of one the greatest tennis player of all time coming to a fast end? Is his all-out style of tennis finally taking its toll on his body that he can no longer be a dominant force into his 30s?
These are the important questions the 28-year old Majorcan Bull is facing right now. Again, the wrist will be fine and it's far from being a career-ending injury, but the wear and tear of a grueling tennis campaign along with the emergence of power-hitting youngster like Kei Nishikori and Marin Cilic could all contribute to Nadal's diminishing dominance in men's tennis.
There's no single doubt Nadal will still be in play for more Grand Slam championships, especially on his home turf at Roland Garros. Then again, that aura of invincibility he usually carries with in every tournament he played in is no longer present.
After a series of shocking losses to low-tier opponents over the past three years, Nadal is not anymore the force that struck fear to every tennis players' eyes, as youngsters start to assert their presence in this new era of tennis, where power hitters and fresh legs reign supreme (as proven in the last US Open championships).
Is Nadal still good to win championships? No doubt about it! Is he still the guy who played in a different stratosphere than the rest of the competition? Not even close and it's a good development for the parity of the sport.
