Super Smash Bros Wii U Release Date Revealed, Nintendo Sells 2.8 Million 3DS Units

Super Smash Bros might be Nintendo's saving grace for this year, with a lot of hype surrounding the new crossover fighting game. The Wii U version is still not available, but the 3DS version has already secured 2.8 million sales, across both Japan, Europe and the North America.
This makes Super Smash Bros one of the biggest releases on the 3DS platform, mainly due to the huge sales in Japan. Nintendo launched the game in Japan first, in early September, but waited until October 3 to release it in North America and Europe.

The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros will launch on November 21 in North America and December 5 in Europe. In Japan, Super Smash Bros will be launched before November 21, but Nintendo did not put an exact date on the Wii U release in that region.
With the large increase in 3DS sales, Super Smash Bros looks to be most popular on 3DS. This might hurt Wii U in the long run, if they wanted to bring Super Smash Bros to Wii U to make the platform more successful.
Nintendo will be launching a new wave of amiibo toy figures with the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. These toys will go for $13 each and work through NFC technology on the Wii U, allowing players to "plug-in" different characters for various Nintendo games.
Super Smash Bros will be the first compatible title, but Mario Party 10, Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Kart 8 will all get amiibo toy support in the near future. Nintendo is also preparing to sell an adapter for the 3DS, making amiibo toys work with the portable console.
The first characters coming to amiibo toys include Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. This will be followed in December with Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.
