After six months in the beta stage, Microsoft finally released Project Spark for the Xbox One and Windows 8. The program enables users to develop their own video games and share it with other users.

A part of the additional downloadable content for the boxed copy is an adventure template title "Champion's Quest: Void Storm". The video game template is sci-fi themed which includes a playable character and a pack expansion. Another added feature that went with the release is the multiplayer mode capability for the developing games.  Owners of the boxed copy also get a free subscription to Spark Premium for a month.

Project Spark can be used by aspiring game developers even without programming knowledge. The program can let developers create their game world to their liking and even design their own characters. Tutorials are included in the program to teach the basics of creating and developing a game within Project Spark. Users will also be able to look at other users' creations.

Other unlockable content can be opened by spending Project Spark's in-game credits. The credits are earnable, but developers and users have the option to buy the in-game credits as well.
