Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Cross Compatible between PS3 and PS4

Activision has announced Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be cross-compatible on the PlayStation network, allowing users to buy the game on the PS3 and then re-download it on the PS4 for free, or vice versa.
Users will have until March 31 2015 to download Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on the other console.

Once downloaded, it appears users can switch back and forth between editions, essentially giving them two games. These games are tied to your PSN ID, not your console.
Activision is also allowing all DLC, Season Pass and progression to be ported over the new console. This part doesn't have a deadline, meaning you can re-download the game before March 31, 2015, but still continue to play on the PS3 version, before switching over.
This is not the first time Activision has made this cross-compatibility possible, with Destiny, their game with Bungie, users are able to port all progress and get the game for free on the PS4 and the Xbox One. The Xbox One will also be compatible with the Xbox 360, and vise versa.
Making games cross compatible gives players time to wait for the PS4 and Xbox One. Even though Sony has accumulated a lot of sales, it's still not 1/8th of all PS3 sales, meaning Sony still needs to tend to their larger audience -- at least until there's an adequate number of PS4 players.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on November 4.
It will be the first Call of Duty worked on by Sledgehammer Games in partnership with High Moon Studios and Raven Software. The former's working on last-generation ports and the latter on multiplayer.
Early previews show a new setting based in the future, where private military groups fight for control over power. Sledgehammer has acquired some TV talent for the single-player, bringing in Kevin Spacey as the main antagonist.
