Apple plans to boost the iPhone 6 Plus supply because of its immense demand compared to the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. According to reports, the demand for the iPhone 6 phablet is so high that it could account for about 60 percent of total iPhone 6 shipments in the future. Apple released two smartphones on Sept. 9 but according to PhoneArena, the company is more focused on advertising and manufacturing the iPhone 6, saying that 17 million of the smaller iPhone 6 account for the 21 million new iPhone 6 units sold.

The production ratio was adjusted to meet the iPhone 6 Plus demand but it will take time for retail supply to improve since component assemblers and suppliers still have to ramp up gradually to meet this production level. Component suppliers do not have sufficient inventories for extra iPhone 6 Plus orders and retail channels may have to wait before they can actually meet the demand.

The iPhone 6 Plus supply was constrained since its September launch. It was sold out quickly during the pre-order period and it remained short in supply. The estimated shipment time for the iPhone 6 Plus is three to four weeks.

There is also a strong demand for the smaller iPhone 6 and it reportedly takes about seven to 10 business days for new orders to ship to customers. Apple is said to be planning to reduce iPhone 6 production volume by three to four million and increase the production of the iPhone 6 Plus at the same time. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 supports 750 x 1334 pixels resolution and has 326 ppi pixel density while the iPhone 6 Plus features a 5.5-inch screen with full HD resolution and 401 ppi.
