Kurds Unite To Create A New State

Kurdish forces have been fighting Islamic militants in the north part of Iraq.
The representatives of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a statement Tuesday saying Syrian Kurdish leaders are talking about the possibility of building a new autonomous region in Syria.
PYD, the main Kurdish faction in Syria, announced it will establish Rojava -- the new unified region -- through parliamentary election and will form its defense troops.

The Kurdish leaders, whose relationships were once extremely strained, held talks in Dohuk, near the Iraqi border in Turkey and Syria, in hopes of creating a unified political entity in Syria.
According to Syrian Kurdish leaders, the announcement of making a semi-autonomous region is just a formality for what has already been a "reality" in the cantons.
However, the Turkish government does not agree with the move, while President Barzani's Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP), which is the major ruling Kurdish party in Iraq, is also cautious about the announcement.
The opposition of the parties comes as the Kurdish territory is in the middle of a massive instability because of the onslaught of the Islamic State (ISIS) militants. The ISIS troops and the Syrian Kurds are currently locked in a fierce battle over the control of the Syrian town of Kobani.
In addition, Turkey has urged the PYD to form a coalition with the Free Syrian Army and to cut ties with the PKK or the Kurdistan Worker's Party.
Meanwhile, because of an increased pressure from the United States, Turkey has offered to send its troops to help the Kurds in defending the town of Kobani.
However, Kobani PYD spokesman Idris Nassan, said it is not in need of additional manpower but of additional artillery.
Wednesday will mark the ninth day of talks between the leaders, who in 2012, took control of the regions of Kobani, Efrin and Cizire, towards the establishment of a new "semi-autonomous" region in Syria.
